Waad Al Shamal project in KSA(500MW)

The Waad Al Shamal Wind Power Project, located in the Turaif area of Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders Province, is a key part of the fourth round of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) and one of the country’s important new energy projects supporting energy transition and sustainable development strategies. The project has a total installed capacity of 500 MW, consisting of 67 wind turbines each with a capacity of 7.7 MW. Once completed, the project will provide the region with a stable and reliable supply of clean energy, effectively easing the pressure of growing local electricity demand and supporting Saudi Arabia’s energy diversification strategy. The project is expected to achieve full-capacity grid connection and power generation by 2026, becoming one of the major sources of clean energy in northern Saudi Arabia.

As the wind turbine installation contractor for this project, FuJiang Electric is responsible for the lifting and installation of key turbine components, including tower installation, nacelle hoisting, hub assembly, blade installation, and related auxiliary lifting operations. Leveraging extensive wind power construction experience and mature technical solutions, the project team organized construction workflows scientifically and deployed large lifting equipment efficiently, ensuring that all tasks were carried out safely, orderly, and efficiently, fully demonstrating the company’s professional capabilities in large-scale wind power project construction.

During the project implementation, the team faced highly challenging natural conditions. The construction site is located in a long-term high-temperature and arid climate, with high summer temperatures, frequent sandstorms, and significant day-night temperature differences. Additionally, the large terrain variations in the construction area imposed higher demands on the stability of large lifting equipment and the organization of construction operations. Moreover, wind power construction requires strict adherence to wind speed conditions, and the complex and variable wind patterns posed challenges in managing lifting operation windows. To address these adverse factors, the project team implemented meticulous construction management, prepared emergency response plans in advance, scheduled lifting windows reasonably, and strictly enforced safety management standards, ensuring that the construction process remained safe and fully controlled at all times.
